Combo & Head Vintage Silverface Amp Review

For some people, the name of the Fender Bassman 100 amp could be quite confusing, who are somewhat known in the world of guitars and music. Mainly because they have used the name for this amp twice in fender's amplifiers producing history, so, many people, refer to it as an old item, from far gone ages, yet also for the more recent one.

This of course might seem to many people like a stupid move by Fender, the fact that they deem their products like something old and forgotten, yet too a lot of people it ain't. The old Bassman 100 was only produced for six years, however they still turn up occasionaly on music festivals and auction sites like ebay.com.

This article though is about the newest edition of the bassman 100 serie, which brings 100 watts of power, trough a specialy designed 15 inch speaker, providing a "low-end" sound. This Bassman 100 amplifier speaker would be a good choise, in case you need a good speaker to learn playing the guitar, for usage in a music studio, or at a small gig, where you don't need an awfull lot of power, to supply enough volume and generate a clear sound. Due to a on-board compressor, that filters all the nuances and imperfections, you'll get that clearer sound.

A dual LED pre-amp clip indicator, lets you know when you are hitting your headroom, making it even a better tool, and improving the sound quality even further.

There are however people who believe that this Basmann 100 amplifier doesn't have enough power to provide top notch, sound and quality to perform on bigger gigs and stages, yet an other group, believes it does, i guess, you'll just need to test and try it out if you need to come to your own decision.

Fender's Bassman 100 of the 1970s was a silver face piggyback head paired with four 12-inch speakers and sending out 100 watts of power.

The model was short-lived, however. It lasted only from 1972 to 1977.

From 1978 to 1983, Fender made its replacement, the Bassman 135, offering 135 watts of power and a three-band EQ on the bass channel.

The other Bassman 100 is a practice amp available new from Fender until recently, and it’s almost certainly the one that interests you now.

As said, this one is made for the smaller gigs and learning, if you ever need to find one of these, it should be quite easy, as these amps are also discontinued by fender, you'll find plenty of them at auctions or online, on places like amazon.com, or ebay.

Whatever you do, If you decide to choose for a Bassmann 100 fender amplifier, do not choose one from the early '70s and '80s. Fender has forgotten about these, so why don't you.
