Band Of Brothers, The Best World War II Tv Serie

The Real Story Of 101st Airborne in ww2.
As i am very interested in the history of the 2th world war, and specially about D-day, i have seen a lot of movies, documentary's and read a lot of books, visited museums and spoke with a lot of people about that horrible time.
Because i live in belgium, we sure had our piece of the fight, but unfortunatly only the battle of the bulge(battle of the ardennes) is the most well known, And still there are 100's of war cemetery's all over the country.
I learned a lot of the 1st and 2th world war, of my great-grandfather, who fought in both wars.and i guess that's where my interest began.
Now after watching incredible accurate movies like saving private ryan, and others i realized that such a movies really add up to the value of history, and give people a better understanding about what happened 60 years ago.
I have been in Normandie, on Ohame and Utah beach and seen the destroyed bunkers and cannons, the bomb craters and all that kind of stuff, and i can tell you one thing, a man becomes very silent when you see something like that.
We own our lives to those heroic young soldiers, often not even old enough to buy a beer.
The series, telling you the story of Easy Company of the 101st US
Airbourne Paratrooper division is so unbelievably realistic, so
authentic... There has been put so much effort in taking care of all
the details that it makes you believe that you are right in the middle
of all the action. This is an outstanding achievement. It's about ten
hours long, but I wouldn't mind if it was a few hours longer.
Each episode starts with interviews of the actual men from
Easy Company, talking about the experiences that the episode
deals with. When you buy the special edition DVD box (a metal case with
6 instead of 5 DVD's), you will find the complete interviews with these
men on the extra DVD. These interviews certainly aren't to be missed! And add an extra dimension to the serie, cause with each episode you'll watch, at the same time you'll start to understand these now older men, and the terrible things the've seen.
The serie starts of with the training of these fine soldiers, lead by cpt sobel(David swimmer), who makes it hard on those men, and trust me if i where those guy's, i would piss in his coffee.
Then each episode takes you further true the war, from preparing to D-Day, to the day of day's itself, the landing of Normandie, The liberation of France, Holland, Belgium, and ongoing to the end of the war.And what i like even more is that each episode, takes a deeper look inside the live and thoughts of the soldiers themselfs.
Know that these guy's have been in war for over 2 years and never had the chance to go home for a break, day in day out in the horror of war.Which is very well reflected in the serie. When i saw Band Of Brothers for the first time i saw a comparison with saving private ryan, untill i found out that Steven Spielberg is Also one of the people behind the screens(go figure).
People i can only say, if you haven't seen the serie yet, and you are interested in history, war, or you like to see a great serie in the style of saving private ryan, you'll need to see this!
My score 10/10, The serie isn't even long enough to me,bad luck, the story doesn't alow a2th serie.
